A milk bath is great for a maternity photoshoot! A unique and beautiful way to show your baby bump but it doesn’t have to be just for maternity photos as it’s a great way to get some creative photos for yourself!
There are more options with this type of shoot than you might think! We could try lots of ideas such as fresh flowers, zesty lemons and mint, lots of fabric, floaty dresses or get creative with make up looks (there is the option to have a professional make up artist as well which is a relaxing experience in itself).
You can leave the ideas up to me to create you something or you can have your input with the colour theme, flowers or plants.
For some people the idea of having a photoshoot alone can make them feel nervous and getting in a bath for a photoshoot can seem like a strange idea at first! I can direct you and get you feeling comfortable in front of the camera. You will be in a warm bath with lovely smells and flowers which always helps to feel relaxed!
What you wear or don't wear is completely up to you. You could wear lace, tulle, floaty dresses, crop tops, lingerie (please bring white/ nude underwear with you anyway) and even do some tasteful implied shots if you wish but this is not necessary. Even with implied shots, as you can see from the examples, the photos will always be "safe for work" with nothing on show that shouldn't be.
Think about your colour scheme. I try to avoid white dresses as the bath water itself is very white so you can end up blending into the water to much wearing block white. White lingerie or white lace can work as your skin colour showing through breaks up the white.
I provide a small selection of sheer/ lacey maternity dresses for you to look through as well.
The best time for a maternity milk bath photoshoot is 8 months (32 weeks) into your pregnancy as you have a lovely big bump with a lovely shape.
New mums- if your a new mum to be then you could have your session between 7-8 months (28- 32 weeks). Sometimes new mums can find things a bit more physically exhausting the further into their pregnancy they are.
I allow for a 2 hour session, however you will only be in the bath itself for up to 45 minutes so there’s no worry about getting cold! The rest of the time is preparing the bath, flowers, changing and finishing with a cup of tea.
From April I will be living in Northamptonshire and will be able to shoot these in my own home studio bathroom.
We can shoot from your home but it must be a white bath and bathroom for lighting purposes so please enquire first.
Bracknell, Hampshire- we can hire a lovely “lifestyle” studio apartment in Hampshire if this is closer to you.
There are price options for with and with out a make up artist.
With your session you will receive:
2 hours session (3 hours with a make up artist)
10 digital printable images
Posing guidance (as a professional model myself can demonstrate and direct)
An online selection gallery to view the images
Variation of creative sets. Two different colour themes.
Different pricing options depending on the location and the optional addition of a make up artist.
Keep in mind you receive 10 digital photos in with the package price but in case it’s to hard to choose only 10 you can purchase a further 10 digital photos for £90.
