The Natural Light Studio
Sean needed some new photos to update his website. I created this lifestyle set with the red chesterfield chair and lots of plants. Sean needed some standard simple headshots as well and we also went out on location so he ended up with a great variety of photos and I was really pleased with what we got!
We went to The Natural Light studio which is at the old Royal Ordnance Depot in Weedon Bec, Northamptonshire. It’s a fantastic space as the studio inside is full of character with wooden floors and huge old windows that let it lots of natural light. The location around the studio is really interesting as well as it has a canal running through it and lots of old brick buildings. A really interesting place with lots of history.
Sean had a particular idea of the style of photos he wanted and even sent me through some photo examples and other peoples websites with the sort of photos he liked. This is great to give me a good starting point for the types of photos he wanted to achieve. Some of the photos I cropped to a banner size to suit different areas on his website. This is why it’s great to know the purpose for the photoshoot as well as it helps me to think about what will be needed for the end result.
Window Photos
Sean’s photo ideas he sent me involved lots of window light. This was the perfect studio for these types of shots as the windows are so large and full of character as well.
Simple Headshots
Some simple headshots against a black background as it’s always useful to have these photos for online use.
I shot these in both portrait and landscape orientation so Sean could choose which would suit his website best.
Out on Location
I know the village where the studio is very well as it’s were my family come from and have been for many generations. It’s great that the studio is located in such a beautiful village in the countryside. We took a walk through the tree lined park and up the steps of the stone bridge to the canal. By this time it was golden hour and the light was shining through the trees and reflecting off the water.
